The town of Nerja is 51 kilometres from Málaga and 25 kilometres from Vélez Málaga. It has a population of around 13,000 pepople which increases considerably in the summer months. The town is a popular tourist resort with many attractions including The Balcon de Europa and The Caves of Nerja. There are several beaches at the resort including Burriana and La Torrecilla. The town has numerous shops, bars and restaurants and a lively street market in held each week throughtout the year.
