Torrox consists of two main areas, the beach resort know as Torrox Costa and the Pueblo a few kilometres in land. The town is said to have the finest climate in Europe. It is situated 47 kilometres from Málaga and 20 kilometres from Vélez Málaga. Phoenician remains found on the coast here testify to the long history of settlement in this region. The remains of a Roman villa are to be found neat to the light house.
